I started this journey…

I bought High Performance Barefoot Trimming originally as my one mare had been sore for 6 months straight and I figured I should try trimming her myself.

I wanted a little more basic understanding which I found in your book (which I found to be very informative and easy to understand and follow, and your book gave me the confidence to get started).

I figured I couldn’t do any worse than the last 2 farriers I have tried (my good one retired).

Having had barefoot horses growing up I was already a believer in that, so just needed a better understanding how to get this one horses able to comfortably go barefoot as she just has more tender feet than most.

Then working on my horses feet weekly at first to watch and see the subtle differences it made for her, which to me proved that I was on the right track, and that your information was right.

I could see even the first day when I only took at little off her heels and bars and then put the mustang roll on her hooves, that she was already walking better (less sore).

The next week I could see that the toe callous was forming nicely.

I also figured doing it weekly I will get more proficient at it quicker with less to remove weekly as well.

This will help me develop my eye and already I am noticing a lot more little details.

So just looking at her feet and comparing them to the pictures and really studying the book and then looking at her feet again and again – studying them and comparing my other horses hooves as well.

Once I could see the difference it was making on the one I was trimming this helped me so much.

I read lots and watch different training videos, and trainers and always weigh and study the information out in my mind – then try out what makes sense to me and then see what kind of results I get.

The results so far have been amazing on my tender footed mare, she can now walk down the gravel road comfortably and last weekend I even had her up in the mountains and she was able to handle the rocks on the trail fairly comfortably.

This was not a terribly rocky trail, but before now she would never have been able to do that trail barefoot, she would have needed her simple boots.

I took them just in case, but she didn’t need them.

So thank you so much for writing a book and sharing your knowledge as it has certainly made a hugh difference for my tender footed horse.

My others seem a little more comfortable as well – but the difference is not as drastic for them.
